DJI Terrain Follow Mode explained
Learn more about the DJI Terrain Follow Mode in this easy-to-follow explanation.
Learn how to activate and use the DJI Terrain Follow Mode effectively.
Terrain Follow Mode is available with a few of the latest drones only.
In the Terrain Follow Mode the drone follows automatically an uneven surface by keeping a certain
previously determined height.
This is not only useful during a free flight but also if you combine it with modes such as ActiveTrack.
The drone uses sensors and the built-in barometer to keep the altitude –
and offers a fixed altitude of 1m - 10m AGL.
In an uphill flight this system is quite reliable, if you fly downhill, you have to control the drone
manually to keep the altitude.
This must have been programmed due to safety reasons, however, this also makes the function redundant.
I cannot recommend this mode until it has been improved.
If you want to fly in the ActiveTrack Mode, I can recommend THIS DJI DRONE, it can not only track objects but also circle around them or film them from the front – without the danger of colliding backwards with a tree.
